Earlier, amid rumblings of discontent over Chief Minister O Panneerselvam and his cabinet colleagues holding discussions with Sasikala, who until the death of Jaya was seen as a nobody in the party, AIADMK leader C Ponnaiyan said there was nothing wrong in the CM meeting an important party functionary. Chinnamma follows Amma's footsteps.
The election affidavit filed by Jayalalithaa in April this year had mentioned several assets, including her swanky Poes Garden residence here. Some people believed Sasikala Natarajan, Jayalalithaa's closest aide, will be the right choice to replace her.
"People of Tamil Nadu will not accept the leadership of any other member other than senior members who are there". The party's channels claim that these leaders have been attempting to persuade Sasikala to "lead the party" in the absence of Jayalalithaa. "However, it doesn't mean that she would become the homemaker of my house", she added. He had also asserted that the General Secretary would be elected soon and party remained united. The assets were valued at Rs 113.72 crore, including movable assets of Rs 41.63 crore and immovable assets of Rs 72.09 crore.
The party announced Rs 3 lakh each to the next kin of 203 people who died after they heard of Jayalalithaa's death.
TN Cabinet decides to recommend Jaya's name for Bharat Ratna: TAMIL Nadu Cabinet on Saturday made a decision to recommend late AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa for India's highest civilian honour, the "Bharat Ratna".
