Golden Globe Awards 2017: Glimpses and more

Remaining loyal to the network's resident funnyman, Tonight Show host Jimmy Fallon has finally signed on to host the annual ceremony after years of turning his network down. "The whole night won't focus on that, but it will be a week before the inauguration, so it will be on everyone's mind", Fallon said.

"It's not heavily political", he said of his upcoming gig. The animated film The Incredibles was nominated for the same category in 2004. In his words, the night will be "fun, and friendly, and joyous, and cool". This year, Sylvester Stallone's daughters Scarlet, Sophia and Sistine will be handing out the awards. There will be Hamm, there will be candy, everyone will be famous and fabulous. I've heard that Justin will turn up on the show anyway, and not as a presenter- but in some kind of pre-taped sketch with Jimmy.

By the time the movie awards come around, there may be enough emptied bottles of wine in the Beverly Hilton hotel for some real drama. The next two years Showtime's Homeland took home the top prize for a drama series before AMC's Breaking Bad broke though in 2014.

Writers chosen for best screenplay alongside Chazelle and Jenkins are Ford and Lonergan as well as Taylor Sheridan for "Hell or High Water". Tina Fey. Uh, but it's going to be good.

And did we mention superheroes? . The singer is also nominated for Best Country Solo Performance at the 2017 Grammy Awards.

"American Crime", "The Dresser", "The Night Manager", "The Night Of" and "The People v. O.J. Simpson: American Crime Story" are up for limited series or TV movie. More presenters will be announced before Sunday's show. Newer shows received a majority of the nominations this year, as is tradition. Expect acting awards to recognize both newly minted stars, like Issa Rae, and seasoned performers (slash comeback queens) like Winona Ryder.

The raunchy, superhero flick managed to score nominations for best motion picture, comedy or musical and also gave Reynolds his first Golden Globe nomination, for best actor in a motion picture, comedy or musical.

They are, however, not to be confused with actual awards that mean something.

Miscellany: Attendees will eat Chilean sea bass, filet mignon and mushroom risotto.

Joining Stone with nominations for best actress in a musical/comedy are Annette Bening for "20th Century Women", Lily Collins in Warren Beatty's "Rules Don't Apply", Hailee Steinfeld for "The Edge of Seventeen" and Meryl Streep for her opera-singing heiress in "Florence Foster Jenkins".
