Trade will also be part of the agenda for President Trump's meeting with Mexico's Pena Nieto along with immigration and security, Press Secretary Sean Spicer told reporters.
Many towns in Mexico are anxious about another Trump promise, that he will make Mexico pay for a border wall, possibly by blocking wire transfers out of the United States from Mexican nationals.
The Mexican peso has showed historic lows against the US dollar, which augurs an inflationary spiral that the Mexican government is trying to avoid with measures to defend the family economy, and with agreements with businessmen, unions and the reduction of expenses in many sectors.
Trump has pledged to renegotiate the three-nation trade agreement and slap tariffs on imports.
Mexico has been in Trump's sights since the first day of his presidential campaign.

Mr Trump has said he would move to tear up the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) if no "fair deal" was forthcoming. Concern about him is widespread. Eighty percent of Mexicans see an economic crisis and falling investment as very or somewhat likely during Trump's administration, it showed.
"It's the other way around, all United States presidents should be grateful that all the migrants have helped the economy". He mistakenly gave Pena Nieto's title as prime minister instead of president. His approval ratings are the lowest for any president in years, and there is simmering discontent over a gasoline price hike this month that spurred nationwide protests and looting.
