Bhopal man murders girlfriend, buries in cemented box for two months

The skeletons were stuffed in rucksacks before these were buried in eight-foot pit, the police said.
A joint team of Raipur, West Bengal and Bhopal police reached Das's old residence in Raipur on Sunday morning.
He later changed his version, stating that the victim came to live with him in Bhopal after they became friends on Facebook a year ago, the officer said, adding that Udayan had a lavish lifestyle and used to travel in expensive cars.
Udayan was arrested in connection with the murder of Akanksha whose kin had lodged a missing complaint in Bankura after they were not able to contact her since a long time.
Udayan Das had admitted to killing Akansha previous year and building a square marble block to hide the body.
Udayan had befriended Akanksha Sharma on social media.
He strangled her and placed her in a wooden coffin and then built a tomb with cement and concrete which took 3 hours for the police to drill out.
Family and friends of Akanksha claim they used to receive telephone calls from her till about two months back and when the calls stopped her father got suspicious and registered a missing persons complaint with police. Police sources said that Udayan's room was littered with soiled clothes and utensils and the doors and windows were cello-taped to prevent any smell from emanating out. At Udayan's indication, digging was carried at the spot first by labourers and then by JCB machine in the presence of police of three states.
The accused told the police that in a fit of rage he strangulated Akanksha in the last week of December 2016, after they had a dispute over an issue. Later, he said that he married her in NY.

Akanksha's father claimed that his daughter had left home in June 2016 on the pretext of looking for a job.

The investigations have revealed that he was a class 12 pass out and not an IITian as he had claimed earlier, police said, adding that he led a lavish life. The woman left her parents and home town and made a decision to live with her man in Bhopal.
The Gobindpura police said the concrete platform was broken on Thursday night and the body of Shweta buried underneath was recovered.
