Boeing Rolls Out First 787-10 Assembled in SC

"That is one attractive airplane", the president said in his opening remarks, gesturing to a 787 on display behind him.

SC has a nonunion reputation, but the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers thought they had a shot at unionizing the Boeing aircraft plant in North Charleston. The vote against unionization was nearly 75 percent.

The results come just before U.S. President Donald Trump is due to visit Boeing in SC on Friday, as the company rolls out the first completed 787-10, the largest version of its Dreamliner.

Another facet of union opposition in this heavily Republican state is political, given the longstanding relationship between organized labor and Democratic politics.

Cornfield said Trump's pressure on business to keep jobs in the USA could be "defanging large corporations in their efforts to resist unionization. giving workers a leg up and unions a leg up in the campaign period".

Moreover, South Carolina's former Governor Nikki Haley, who is now the Trump's ambassador to the United Nations, opposed unionization of labor in her state.

Companies are "keeping and bringing thousands of jobs back in our country, because the business climate they know has already changed", Trump said. According to Bureau of Labor Statistics the state has 1.6 percent of workers in labor unions, the lowest amongst all.

Intel, however, didn't list Trump as a factor in its decision - even though its chief executive Brian Krzanich made a surprise visit to the White House last week to announce the deal.

"We're going to save billions and billions of dollars", Trump said. "Brave workers at Boeing were seeking a better life but they faced insurmountable odds and were met with a corporate bankrolled campaign to silence them".

Trump blames factory job losses on cheap foreign labor and trade pacts.

President Donald Trump is the biggest lover of women and respects women more than anyone else-unless maybe that woman is over 30.

Boeing assembles the 787-10 exclusively in North Charleston, South Carolina, which also assembles the 787-8 and 787-9 along with the original assembly site in Everett, Washington.

SC has the lowest level of union representation in the nation, at 1.6 percent.

"Costs are out of control", Trump tweeted in early December.

He said the results do send a message about South Carolina's desire to keep businesses union-free, which economic developers and politicians often use a selling point during recruitment efforts. Working together as a unit there is nothing we can not accomplish.

Boeing has whipped the (very long) covers off the latest addition to the Dreamliner family.

"I will never disappoint you", Trump said.

Trump's appearance in SC followed a marathon news conference Thursday at which he forcefully defended his performance in the opening weeks of his presidency.

The key, Obama said, was to increase the manufacturing output of high-quality products and sell those goods overseas, something that would require fewer workers than in the past.
