WWE Universal Championship Match: Kevin Owens (Champion) vs Goldberg (Challenger) (Winner: Kevin Owens) When I saw that Goldberg was challenging for the Universal Championship, I thought that Goldberg would be walking into Wrestlemania as the champion.
Goldberg will be appearing on the show for the first time as WWE Universal Champion, and he will address his title win over Kevin Owens last night.
Jericho's interference in the match sets him up for a US Title match at WrestleMania 33 against Kevin Owens as well.
At 50-years-old, it's clear that Goldberg is unable to compete in long matches, so it will be interesting to see how his Wrestlemania match with Brock Lesnar will proceed.
Owens initially avoided getting into the ring, going by his strategy of tiring Goldberg out before the match could even begin. The new Raw Women's Champion Bayley defeated Charlotte, who challenged the former for the title earlier. Unless WWE decides to pull a 180 and have Bayley retain, Charlotte will most likely win back the Women's Championship.
On the other hand, Sasha Banks defeated Nia Jax via pinfall.
Also at the event, Roman Reigns will take on the monster among men known as Braun Strowman in what is destined to be physical clash - but who will be the last monster standing? It's nearly as underwhelming as her win at Wrestlemania past year and that was more due to Ric Flair's interference than because of her actually winning. Samoa Joe also looked as risky in his match, dismantling Sami Zayn for the victory. In an interview, Joe said that he was not like Zayn, who is just happy to be on Raw and this started the feud between the two and after a few altercations on Raw, the two made a decision to settle their differences at Fastlane.
-Noam Dar and Brian Kendrick vs. Akira Tozawa and Rich Swann (Kickoff Show).
As if the long-awaited mega rematch between Goldberg and Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 33 wasn't already big enough, the stakes have been heightened following Goldberg's triumph at WWE Fastlane. WWE extended the show as Owens stalled by jumping out of the ring. We're also faced with the prospect of having another part-time champion, just as we did when Lesnar held the gold three years ago. I have a feeling, though, that Stephanie McMahon will call for Bayley to relinquish her title yet again tonight. If recent title reigns for The Rock and Triple H have any indication, however, Goldberg is taking the belt to WrestleMania.
Some members of the WWE Universe expected a major surprise Sunday night, whether that came in the form of an appearance by either Finn Balor, the Undertaker, or Kurt Angle. The two have been buddies since just before SummerSlam and Jericho's always been able to keep Owens from losing his title.
Cruiserweight Championship - Neville (c) vs. Jack Gallagher: Neville has been fantastic as a dominant heel in his return to WWE from injury. The hard thing about his transition into WWE was the backstage politics and how things work behind the curtains.
