"While the people voted for me as the Chief Minister in 2012 I chose to make Akhilesh the Chief Minister, but he humiliated me", said Mulayam.
Branding former Uttar Pradesh chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav's photograph on ration cards during the Samajwadi Party's regime as "cheap politics", the Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday asserted that any social program should be not used for political goal. "When he [Akhilesh] does not respect his father [Mulayam], how will people respect him?" he said.
It seems that the once most powerful father-son duo of Uttar Pradesh politics has broken down for good.
"I will hold discussions with Netaji (Mulayam) and other senior leaders to decide the future course of action", Shivpal told reporters.
She was believed to be Samajwadi Party leader Shivpal Yadav's loyalist.
The three-time chief minister of the state also lashed out at Akhilesh's decision to join hands with the Congress before the polls, especially because the party had launched "murderous attacks" against him in the past.
In a public outburst against his son, Mulayam on Saturday had said Akhilesh had insulted him and the voters understood that "one who is not loyal to his father, can not be loyal to anyone" which led to the party's poll debacle.
Akhilesh Yadav had "overthrown" his father as national president of the party in a political coup of sorts on 1 January 2017, after a bitter battle of power and supremacy in the party.
Akhilesh Yadav had also expelled Rajya Sabha member Amar Singh and sacked his uncle Shivpal Singh Yadav as the state unit president. A source close to Yadav family said that Mulayam is very upset with his son and UP former CM Akhilesh Yadav's behaviour when he insulted him and Shivpal during the polls.
