Jackson says that a trade might be best for Carmelo, Knicks

NY went 31-51, falling well short of expectations with its third consecutive 50-loss season.

Carmelo Anthony seemingly responded on Instagram Friday to the latest jab from Phil Jackson.

"We've not been able to win with (Anthony) on the court at this time,"Jackson told reporters during his 50 minute pow-wow with the NY media". Anthony said earlier this week.

The Knicks just finished 31-51, their fourth losing season in a row and Anthony's awful contract isn't going to help them rebuild. He has said in the past that if the Knicks presented him with a trade proposal, he would listen. It sure seems Melo and the Knicks are heading towards a divorce, but Anthony has to approve the trade, which complicates everything.

"He enjoyed playing here even with the losses, which of course surprises us because he's been on some very successful teams", Jackson said. The Knicks finished 31-51 in their fourth straight season out of the playoffs. Reports said that regardless of whether it happened during the season or afterwards, Anthony would not be back with the Knicks next season. "I never made a substitution, but the buck stops here", Jackson said.

"I have a lot of thinking and reflecting to do", Anthony told ESPN. "Obviously it hasn't worked out, this partnership together".

Jackson maintains that the Knicks want a significant player in return for Anthony if the franchise does decide to move on from its superstar. "We will take into account his consideration". "A person better be able to take that if they're going to be coached or else you can't be part of this organization".
