Aquaman movie starts filming in Queensland

Sure Warner Bros. may have had a rough time trying to start the engine on the DC Expanded Universe previous year with Batman v. Superman and Suicide Squad, however the studio's quickly moving forward, preparing for the release of Wonder Woman and working on its other superhero film projects like Justice League and Aquaman. The rest of the cast includes Amber Heard as Mera, Willem Dafoe as Vulko, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Black Manta, Patrick Wilson as Orm/Ocean Master, and Nicole Kidman as Atlanna.

James Wan's "behind-the-scenes" team was also proudly announced in the release. Don Burgess is the director of photography, Kirk M. Morri is editing, and Bill Brzeski is the production designer.

Aquaman will shoot in Newfoundland, Sicily, Tunisia, and the Gold Coast of Queensland, Australia. But there will be extensive filming at Villiage Roadshow Studios as well. Zack and Deborah Snyder from Justice League are executive producers for the standalone DC project long with Jon Berg, Geoff Johns and others. Now the film has commenced production and has marked the occasion by releasing a brand new title card and a photo from the first day of shooting. Of note, the image appears to have been taken on a set piece resembling a submarine. Casting-wise, thanks to a fleeting cameo in Batman V Superman, we know that it is former Game of Thrones star Jason Momoa who will be taking charge as the King of Atlantis.
