James scored 39 points, hopped Kareem Abdul-Jabbar on the career playoff scoring list and pushed the Cleveland Cavaliers to a 125-103 blowout over the Toronto Raptors in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series on Wednesday night. Michael Jordan is first with 5,987 playoff points.
The Cavs had this same lead in 2016 against Toronto, the only difference was that it was in the Eastern Conference Finals.
James also became the fourth player in National Basketball Association history (Ray Allen, Reggie Miller, Manu Ginobili) to make 300 playoff 3-pointers in a career.
Back on the playoff stage, where hes starred so many times before, LeBron James is making things look easy. Only Jordan (109) has more.
Kyrie Irving had 22 points and 11 assists and Channing Frye scored 18 points for the reigning champions, who are 6-0 so far defending their title.
Jonas Valanciunas and DeMarre Carroll were to come off the bench.
All-Star guard Kyle Lowry scored 20 points, but injured his left ankle with 11:33 left in the third quarter and was out of the game for good by the fourth.
Cavaliers: Frye made five 3s and the Cavs dropped 18 from long range.
NOTES: Cavs F LeBron James is not happy with a local brewer using his likeness to promote its beer.
The suds he grabbed were produced by Lakes Brewing Co., so naturally, the Cleveland-based brewery chose to take advantage of the fact that one of the world's most well-known professional athletes pretended to drink its beer. James is also aware that the brewery produced and sold a bitter "Quitness" ale when he bolted Cleveland for Miami as a free agent in 2010. Also, a source close to him said it would cost a company $2 million, at minimum, for the cardboard cutout of James holding the beer it used in a Tweet Tuesday for a promotion. On his 40th birthday, coach Tyronn Lue said the best gift would be a win.
Despite the Raptors' changes to the starting lineup, the Cavs put together their third 10-0 run of the series in the first quarter to jump out to another early lead. Past year after going up 2-0, the Raptors fought back to win 2 strait at home, but then the Cavs won out to win the series 4-2.
