The Mets' beloved mascot flashed an upraised middle finger at a fan during a 7-1 loss to the Brewers the night before, and the employee in the costume will not work for the Mets again. "The last three weeks, I'd get fastballs, I'd swing - foul ball or off the end". The Brewers lost 5-4 in 12 innings.
Only this misplay had a happy ending for the Mets.
Released by the Mets following a 50-game minor league drug suspension in 2009, Junior Guerra (1-0) defeated NY for the first time. Earlier this month, Matt Harvey was suspended three games for failing to show up at Citi Field after going on a bender the night before, reportedly because he was distraught over photos of his presumed girlfriend, model Adriana Lima, out on the town with a former flame, Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman. "You never have control of matches especially out here with these closing holes", Dalke said.
Following that game, he received his 5th random drug test of the season.
The kooky play came in the fourth inning with the Milwaukee Brewers ahead 2-0 after they loaded the bases with one out.
Luckily for the Mets, the play did not come back to haunt them as Sogard hit into a double play. In the sixth, Conforto made a diving catch on Perez's liner to left. Santana was stranded when pinch-hitter Jesus Aguilar struck out. "I don't fine anybody", manager Craig Counsell said. "The ball didn't really kick from Cabrera".
I cant wait to get a ring like my dads, Dalke said. "We let everybody else do that". Collins was ejected from the game. "This is one we needed to have". Before the inning, Milwaukee had been 2 for 27 with runners in scoring position in the series. Franklin had an RBI single, right before Anderson's bunt hit.
Pill made his big league debut Saturday and took the loss after relieving in the 10th inning at Pittsburgh.
"Tonight is on me", deGrom said.
Anderson (4-1) gave up three hits, walked one and struck out seven. He was angry plate umpire Manny Gonzalez didn't call a 2-2 pitch at the knees to Reyes a strike in the fifth, then threw a fastball in the dirt.
