Chelsea to sell promising 22-year-old in £20m deal

Chelsea have Bournemouth agreed a deal in principle, per The Guardian, with the transfer fee said to be £20m, which would make Ake a club-record signing for the Cherries.

The 22-year-old Netherlands global spent the first half of last season at Bournemouth on loan, before being recalled to the Chelsea squad for their title-winning run-in.

The Blues are mindful of previous mistakes and they appear to be inserting buy-back clauses in all their current deals.

While he had to wait until November for his first league start under Eddie Howe last season, the Netherlands worldwide quickly snatched a first-team role, making 12 appearances for the club and scoring some important goals along the way, including late winners against Stoke City and Liverpool.

Howe played a huge part in securing Ake amid competition and the Netherlands global made it clear to Chelsea that he wanted to leave over a lack of first team opportunities.

The deal as previously reported would be worth around £20million, with the Dutch worldwide signing a five year contract at Dean Court.

"Two seasons ago, I challenged the starters but we all know what happened past year".

After Asmir Begovic, Ake will become the second Chelsea player to move to Bournemouth for a combined total of £32 million.

'The fans haven't seen the best of me yet.

Ake's aptitude in possession will naturally appeal to Cherries manager Eddie Howe, who encourages his teams to play stylishly on the deck. "He has a very bright future ahead of him and I'm very pleased to say that future is here".
