Facebook have announced they are cutting the price of the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset.

The official #Oculus Touch controllers started a couple of months after to the tune of $199 Dollars for the set that included a secondary sensor to track the peripherals within the 3D space.

It's the second big price drop for the VR headset, which was originally sold at an RRP of $799.

Generally, the Rift has been in the same conversation as the HTC Vive when it comes to VR.

Facebook acquired Oculus back in 2014 for $3 billion.

The manufacturer is offering the set for $399, a 33% discount compared to the price tag that the device was carrying barely a few days ago.

In fairness, price drops over time is completely normal, but to cut prices by almost 50% in such a short period of time, is both great, and concerning. In March the bundle's price was slashed by [about $180 or £140]. Oculus shut the doors of its Story Studio in May, two years after it launched at the Sundance Film Festival. Their primary intention is to concentrate on the external content makers. Since then, a string of production setbacks, management shakeups, and a $500 million lawsuit with game maker ZeniMax have plagued Oculus. Oculus is appealing the ruling and wants a new trial.
