Derrick Rose to sign with the Cleveland Cavaliers?

One of the biggest names still out there is Derrick Rose, who reportedly is in serious talks to join the Cleveland Cavaliers. Whether it will make them a better team or get them over the hump to compete with the dominant Golden State Warriors is another question.

That is a question that fans may very well have to grapple with, as a new report has come out indicating that the Bulls are one of the teams that Rose is interested in playing for next season.

Rose, 28, spent last season with the Knicks after being acquired in a trade with the Chicago Bulls. If the Cavs see him as a bench player, he could decide to sign with the Lakers.

The Lakers plan to meet with veteran guard Derrick Rose on Thursday, according to league sources familiar with the situation. Earlier this month, Cleveland signed another former Knicks point guard, Jose Calderon, who was sent to Chicago previous year in the Rose trade. He averaged 18 points, 3.8 rebounds and 4.4 assists last season with the Knicks. He showed that he could still play in the National Basketball Association, getting to the rim and finishing. He also shot 47% from the floor, which was his best percentage since the 2009-10 season. His season was cut short in April by a torn meniscus in his left knee. Perhaps the biggest issue for this hypothetical pairing, if it comes to fruition, is the fact that Rose is a bad three-point shooter historically.
