Dragon Ball FighterZ Gets New Characters, Story Mode Detailed

Dragon Ball FighterZ was one of my favourite games at E3, mostly due to just how faithfully Arc System Works are sticking to the source material and recreating some of the most iconic Dragon ball Z imagery in a fast paced, frantic fighter. The fighting game set in the DBZ universe will hit PC, PS4, and Xbox One in early 2018.

The latest Weekly Jump magazine has some new FighterZ introduced, and we're going into god territory now as not only have Goku and Vegeta become Super Saiyan Gods, they've gone Super Saiyan beyond that.

As for Android 18, there is apparently something special about this character that players will see in the upcoming game. Android 16 will play a prominent role in the campaign as he will be revived at some point in the story to fight the Z warriors. Additionally, Android 16 and 18 are joining the roster too, with the middle Android 17 only yet appearing as a support move for Android 18.

While Goku and Vegeta have already been confirmed for the game previously, it seems as though the developers have allotted separate character slots for the ultra-powerful Super Saiyan Blue forms, and that is an understandable decision. The existing nine stand to be Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Cell, Frieza, Majin Buu, Trunks, Krillin, and Piccolo. The magazine goes on to describe it as a "new story for Goku and friends... depicted in high-end animation".

The last translated piece of information comes 3 Vs. 3 online matches with different players controlling each fighter that can be switch out in real-time. A closed beta will run from September 16 to 18, with registration opening on August 22.
