North Korea says it tested hydrogen bomb

The hydrogen bomb was described as having "unprecedently large power" by news telecasters, who that the blast "marked a very significant occasion in attaining the final goal of completing the state nuclear force".
North Korea in July conducted its first ever ICBM tests, part of a stunning jump in progress for the country's nuclear and missile program since Kim rose to power following his father's death in late 2011.

"We see a North Korea whose objective is to have missiles capable of transporting a nuclear weapon tomorrow", Le Drian told RTL radio.
Australia has condemned North Korea's "flagrant defiance" of UN Security Council resolutions and urged the world body to take further action against the "dangerous pariah regime".
"North Korea is a rogue nation which has become a great threat and embarrassment to China, which is trying to help but with little success", Trump tweeted.
South Korea has called for the "strongest possible" response, including new sanctions from the UN Security Council to "completely isolate" its northern neighbour. "The nuclear test is unacceptable", said Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe.
Data from the U.S. Geological Survey on Sunday showed that a magnitude 6.3 seismic event was detected in the North Hamgyeong Province.
Experts estimate that a 100 kiloton bomb detonated at an altitude of about 1 kilometer would likely collapse most civilian structures in a target city.
The explosion came just hours after Pyongyang claimed to have developed a hydrogen bomb that could be loaded onto a long-range missile, and after Abe held telephone talks with US President Donald Trump on the North's weapons programmes.
North Korea has also threatened to fire missiles towards the US Pacific territory of Guam.
Kim Jong Un "set forth tasks to be fulfilled in the research into nukes", KCNA said, but it made no mention of plans for a sixth nuclear test.
North Korea last carried out a nuclear test in September 2016.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said North Korea's claim to have tested a hydrogen bomb "deserves the strongest condemnation".
Countries have also been barred from entering into ventures from North Korea.
