Arkansas man injured helping restore power after Irma

As many as 48,000 Clayton County residents were without power earlier this week.

Central Georgia EMC's online outage map on Friday showed 163 customers in Butts County still without power.

Isolated areas across the county were still in the dark.

A lineman from Arkansas was electrocuted and badly burned while assisting with power restoration efforts in Georgia after Hurricane Irma, officials said. Athens was to have 95 percent of its power restored by 10 p.m., Atlanta by 10 p.m. Friday, Augusta by noon Saturday, and Savannah, Brunswick, Macon and Valdosta by 10 pm. Stone said the company has called in reinforcements from all over the country.

Central Georgia Electric Membership Corp. said this morning 580 customers remained without power across its 14-county territory as the cleanup from Tropical Storm Irma continued.

Ashley West, a spokeswoman for Georgia Pacific, said the worker was not affiliated with the power company. "Thank you again for your support and patience!"
