Hachette Book Group, one of the country's top publishers, also announced Thursday that it has "terminated" Weinstein Books.
Hachette and the book publishing arm of the Weinstein Company had a co-publishing arrangement that included works by Dick Van Dyke, Larry King and Tim Russert.
Under New York law, making someone engage in oral sex by physical force or the threat of it is a first-degree criminal sexual act. That includes reviewing police files to see if any women previously reported being assaulted or harassed by him.
So far, no past complaints have been found, other than one well-known case that prompted an investigation in 2015.
"Mr. Weinstein obviously can't speak to anonymous allegations, but with respect to any women who have made allegations on the record, Mr. Weinstein believes that all of these relationships were consensual", the statement said. The paper quoted what it called people who spoke on condition of anonymity about the confidential communication.
The academy behind the Oscars is to hold emergency meetings about Harvey Weinstein's future role with them, following the sexual abuse accusations that have been levelled against him.
"Don't blame the '60s and '70s for your shitty decision making", she said.
The organisation have "informed" the disgraced producer - who was sacked from his own Weinstein Company earlier this week in the wake of a New York Times expose, which claimed he had sexually harassed a number of women over a 30-year period and paid off at least eight to keep their allegations quiet - of their decision and admitted they felt his alleged actions were "completely unacceptable and incompatible" with their own values.
