"There's so many different incidents that can easily pass you by and you forget about", the 20-year-old told Britain's Press Association.
"I think he will end up as a centre-forward".
Rashford said the fear factor was coming back to Old Trafford but the current team - second in the Premier League behind Manchester City - still had a long way to go to match the success of Alex Ferguson's relentless winning machine. I just think at the moment having Lukaku in the team and obviously Zlatan [Ibrahimovic] coming back as well, I think it's good.
"You look at Rashford at the moment and he wants to extend himself to be as good as he can be, which is very, very good".
Cole admits Martial and Mourinho's relationship has not been the smoothest.
The main talking point of Manchester United's emphatic 4-1 win over Newcastle on Saturday, was the return of Paul Pogba, as the Frenchman put on a dazzling display, both scoring and assisting on the day - emphasising what the side had been missing for the last two months in his absence.
"In football, when you are young and you keep learning and you want to aspire to be the best, you never know where he can end up".
He has expressed a desire to see more game time and Cole feels that he, like Rashford, will prove to be an important figure for United in the long run.
Against Newcastle, Rashford started on the right with Martial on the left, either side of Lukaku, but it was not until Rashford moved inside, with Juan Mata taking up his position on the right, that United began to look risky.
"The thrill of scoring a goal, you get that same thrill when you save a good chance".
Martial has one of the best goal contribution records in the league (frequency of goals/assists), in the top four players for that particular stat alongside Sergio Aguero, Peter Crouch and Leroy Sane.
