Things took a left turn, though, when Corden invited Clarkson's husband/manager Brandon Blackstock aboard for some fun, and insisted the couple was in need of a proper date night. From there, they tackled more of Clarkson's well-worn tunes, like "Stronger" and "Because of You", as well as soulful new singles "Whole Lotta Woman" and "Love So Soft" (complete with that killer high note).
Corden then challenges her to sing "do you want the receipt, or can I put it in the bag", and she does, and it sounds wonderful of course!
As he pulled the auto over, Clarkson got in the back seat while Corden set up a little table complete with a rose, chocolates, anda white tablecloth.
"I feel like we're making a porn", Blackstock laughed as Corden reprimanded him for ruining the mood. The romance only blossomed from there.
"It's hard because I work a lot and I'm a mom but we can try", Clarkson explained.
Kelly was then asked to go into the back of the vehicle where she was joined by her husband along with a table set out with sparkling apple cider, a rose, chocolate covered strawberries and even a violinist.
"Just pretend we're not here", Corden responded, allowing the two to attempt a private conversation in the backseat. "Okay, it's a date night".
Clarkson and Blackstock share 3-year-old daughter River Rose and 19-month-old son Remington, and Blackstock is also dad to 16-year-old daughter Savannah and 10-year-old son Seth.
