A Second Harley Quinn Spin-Off With Margot Robbie Is In-Development

Suicide Squad was packed to the brim with classic DC characters like Harley Quinn, The Joker (Jared Leto), Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), and Deadshot (Will Smith).

The actor played the character in last year's Suicide Squad movie, and has since been confirmed to reprise the role in the sequel, a spin-off centred around Harley and The Joker, and a Harley-focused Gotham City Sirens film.

That would seem to include Robbie's movie though, as she's just spoken to MTV about her project: "I've been working on a separate spinoff Harley thing for a while", she said. "It's hard to kind of talk about it, because all the stuff is kind of under lock and key".

Robbie's personal vision for Harley's next step is one that could fit either a solo movie or Gotham City Sirens, as it turns out. But the way she says it here, all of these projects, including this mysterious solo take, are in various stages of development and any one of them could come out before the others - which, you have to think, would help determine anything that followed.

"Yeah, I've been working on it for two years now", Robbie replied.

"There's a lot going on right now and I'm not sure". With Patty Jenkins' Wonder Woman proving what many already knew - a female-led superhero film could absolutely work - it certainly opens the door wide for Robbie to make this happen. I kept saying it while we were filming Suicide Squad. You see it in the comics. "She needs other girls around her because she loves that.' And you see it in the comics, she loves meeting people, any people, but she needs a little girl gang". And when it comes to Harley Quinn and all of the other badass women in Batman's rogues gallery, there's a lot of potential. Which project are you the most excited about?
