Padman Trailer Out: The Story Of An Unlikely Superhero Of Every Woman

Akshay Kumar, Radhika Apte, and Sonam Kapoor starrer Padman's trailer was released today and we must say it has excited us to such an extent that we can't wait for the film to be released. Sonam Kapoor plays a supporter in Akshay's hard journey.

When Amitabh Bachchan, in the film's trailer, jokingly calls India's Padman the desi counterpart to America's Superman, Spiderman and others, it's not exactly untrue.

Slated for release next year on January 26, India's Republic Day, Padman is based on the true story of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man who built machines to enable women in rural areas to manufacture low-priced sanitary pads for their communities.

It does take guts for a mainstream actor like Akshay Kumar shown putting a sanitary pad on an underwear and trying it out but one hopes that the film manages to remove the stigma around menstruation and doesn't end up being how great Akshay Kumar is.

Here is to one actress who perfects every look with utmost ease. And seems like Akshay has nailed it once again! The stories of the 88% of the women of our country who still don't use sanitary napkins, most of whom can simply not afford to, even today. When all fails, Sonam's character of a social worker comes in as a guiding light to help him scale new heights.

Thank you Akshay Kumar, for choosing a film like this and yes, you're indeed our SUPERHERO! PadMan is a project Akshay and Twinkle were eager to bring on the big screen for a long time.

PadMan releases in cinemas worldwide on the 26th January to inspire us all through Sony Pictures Entertainment, India.
