Petersburg Offers to Recycle Your Christmas Tree

Program coordinator Tara Pike-Nordstrom at UNLV says trees are reduced to mulch for landscaping and dust control. Christmas tree recycling will end on Wednesday, January 31, 2018.

Live Christmas trees can be a lovely addition to the home during the holiday season, showing off the colorful ornaments and lights to all.
There will be four drop-off locations for NHC residents. The site accepts trees between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m. weekdays.
Residents of the City of Richmond can recycle their trees through their eighth annual "Bring One for the Chipper" Christmas tree recycling event.
A number of central Virginia communities are offering Christmas tree recycling programs that reduce the impacts on local landfills.
Trees and other holiday rubbish left curbside outside of regular pickup days is not only un-merry, it's also a violation of city ordinance.
As an added bonus, the tree could be used as an opportunity for the family to get a closer look at the animals that share the area with them.
At elevations of between 2,500 and 3,000 feet above sea level, North Carolina's Ashe County is the top grower, providing approximately two million trees in 2012, according to the most recent data available.
Every city has a different place where residents can drop off trees.
Wire, metal ornaments, tree stands and plastic bags should be removed from trees before they are discarded. The convenience Centers will accept Christmas trees during this time also, however, there is a $5.00 charge per tree.
