Giants suspend Eli Apple

"I had a sit down with him, a couple of us had a sit-down with him, and we just said, 'Man, regardless of the situation, we got your back". After that meeting, Collins offered up a public apology.

Well, not quite. The damage is certainly done, and Collins ended up playing a small role in that. He has failed to record an interception, and his overall play has declined significantly, as has the play of the rest of the Giants' defensive unit.

The second-year cornerback practiced with the team earlier in the day and there seemed to be no indication that he'd be suspended. Mathews, who joined the team's practice squad on December 6, has yet to play in an National Football League regular-season game. But he is a reason, one of many, for their ineptitude.

New York Giants cornerback Eli Apple's season has come to an end.

Apple's lack of effort was also reportedly put on display in front of the whole team by ex-head coach Ben McAdoo following a loss to the 49ers in Week 10, which led him to almost walking out of the team facility. I don't want to start no controversy with my teammate.

When asked what Collins would change if asked by the team's new general manager and coach he laughed before saying, "There's one corner that needs to grow up and we all know who it is". "That would be the only person I would change out of our secondary group. That first pick.he's a cancer".

Apple played Sunday against the Cardinals but only on special teams.

"Look, we're all grown men in there", Collins said. He was selected to start in the Pro Bowl for the second consecutive season, but will not be participating due to the injury. NJ.com detailed off-the-field issues with his family that could be affecting Apple, including his mother and step-father's divorce.

The suspension makes it easier for the Giants to waive Apple, and it could also make it easier to trade him, since the acquiring team would be assuming less financial risk.

Things are apparently even worse for Apple in the Giants' locker room.

The New York Post reported last month that Apple almost left the team facility after he was criticized for making bad plays during a film session. After bringing new meaning to the phrase "sophomore slump" nine games into the season, Apple was called out during a film session, to which he responded by threatening to leave the team facility.
