Train carrying Republicans hits truck, one dead

There is one fatality and one critical injury in the truck hit by an Amtrak train Wednesday morning carrying 200 hundred members of Congress and their guests. It was a 10-carriage train, Amtrak said.
The National Transportation Safety Board said it was launching an investigation.
"When we first knew something was up, it felt like we had gone over a boulder".
"It looks like it's been maybe cut in half".
"We're fine, but our train hit a garbage truck". "So you know we'll pray for their families".
Representative Jason Lewis of Minnesota said on Fox News that he had "a little bit of a whiplash and maybe a tiny bit of a concussion", and his office said he was being taken to a hospital to be examined.
Sen. James Lankford told KGOU he was not hurt in the accident.
"The train carrying GOP members to our retreat had a collision, but Rebecca and I are both okay". They broke into three teams to help the injured people in the truck, he said.

Amtrak said in a statement Wednesday, "It is premature to offer specific comment about this incident, however, it is clear that accidents at rail crossings nationwide are far too common".

One of the men in the garbage truck died upon impact. Flake and Wenstrup did nearly the same thing last summer in the shooting at a baseball field in Alexandria, Virginia.
The train carried dozens of Republican congressional members who were headed to a retreat in West Virginia. It's scheduled to feature speeches from President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence. Six people were taken to the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville for treatment.
The aftermath of the accident was eerily similar to when Republican lawmakers were fired upon at a GOP baseball game in Virginia, that let House Republican Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana and three others wounded.
Another Congressman was on his way to the restroom when the crash occurred, which threw him upon impact. Rep. All of the money will go to his family, the account said.
Comer said he was on the train with around 100 Republican members of Congress of the House and Senate.
Tennessee Congressman Phil Roe was on board with his wife Clarinda.
