"Stranger Things" Adds Maya Hawke as Series Regular in Season 3

Season three of Netflix's Stranger Things is in the works!

Variety describes Robin as being "bored with her mundane day job" which causes her to go looking for some excitement.

Fun fact: Maya Hawke is actually the daughter of actors Ethan Hawke and Uma Thurman, which (on top of her talent) will add yet another nice Easter egg to Stranger Things' signature lineup of references and callbacks. This season, Erica finds herself on an insane mission to save the town of Hawkins from a new unsafe threat. On the other hand, Erica was quite disdainful of her brother's hobbies in Season 2, which probably means that she doesn't have an extensive knowledge of Dungeons and Dragons to help her to deal with monsters and mayhem. As for Ferguson's bigger role, they say that "no longer content with sitting on the sidelines, Erica finds herself on a wild mission to save Hawkins from a risky new threat".

New to the cast this season is Maya Thurman-Hawke, who will play the character Robin.

Ferguson and Hawke's characters will become part of the action, uncovering new secrets and dark mysteries about the fictional town of Hawkins, Indiana. What do you think it means for next season's story? The next moves are up in the air - exactly as the Duffers want it, according to what they previously told The Hollywood Reporter: "Last year, we had a lot of little cliffhangers at the end of the season".

Filming for Stranger Things season 3 is set to begin this spring, although the season itself is not likely to arrive on Netflix before 2019. Follow THR.com/StrangerThings for full coverage of the series.
