DeAndre Hunter: Will miss NCAA Tournament

The top ranked Virginia Cavaliers face the UMBC Retrievers in Friday NCAA college basketball action.

"I think the game may dictate that", Bennett said Thursday as his top-seeded team prepared to open NCAA play against 16-seed Maryland Baltimore County. He has appeared in only three games with Cleveland and has spent most of his time with the Canton Charge of the National Basketball Association G League.

Bennett, who is 219-85 in nine seasons at Virginia, credits experience with making that success possible. "We have to find a way to get through everything".

Toussaint, the NY state player of the year as a high school senior, and Willoughby, the top player that same year in New Jersey, were both highly recruited.

The No. 1-seed Cavaliers will be heavy favorites to win two games in Charlotte, and advance to at least the Sweet 16.

The 2016-17 recruiting class was a big one for the Cavaliers.

The NCAA Tournament kicks off tonight. The Cavs beat UNC in Saturday night's ACC championship game.

"He just told me to be confident and work on my game".

CAROLINA MVP: Luke Maye scored 20 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead the Tar Heels. Sophomore Felicia Aiyeotan anchors the defense at center. She has started 27 games this season and already has more than 100 career blocked shots to her credit.

And according to the latest odds out of Las Vegas, the Wildcats are the favorites to claim their second title in three years. "Guys like Mamadi, and Marco [Anthony] and Nigel [Johnson], guys who've come off the bench for us, and De'Andre before, certainly have to be ready".

Hunter, a redshirt freshman, averaged 9.2 points and 3.5 rebounds in 33 games for the top-ranked Cavaliers. The Cavaliers (18-13) reeled off eight straight wins and 11 of 12 following the loss to Rutgers.

"We didn't know it was broken at the time", Hunter said. "De'Andre's a great player for us and he's been great for us this season but we have to have the next man up mentality and that's what we're going to do".

The victor of Friday's first-round matchup between No. 2 SC and No. 15 North Carolina A&T awaits the Cavaliers or Bears in Sunday's second round.
