Conte hails Morata, Pedro as Chelsea floor Leicester in extra

Chelsea have been made new favourites for the FA Cup, following the draw for the semi-finals.

Pedro Rodriguez came off the bench to keep Chelsea FC's chances of silverware this season alive with an extra-time victor in a 2-1 victory at Leicester on Sunday to reach the FA Cup semi-finals.

TheBlues were not handed any favours whatsoever from the hosts, who forced the game into extra time after Alvaro Morata's 42nd-minute strike was cancelled out by Jamie Vardy in the 76th minute.

Chelsea, who were beaten by Arsenal in the 2017 decider, were favourably drawn with Premier League strugglers Southampton in the semi-finals. Chelsea were miles off the level we know they can operate at, and the home side were far-far better for larger periods in the game, doing more than enough to win it.

"He showed great character, he showed to be strong".

"After a game like Barcelona game - don't forget we spent a lot of energy - to play 120 minutes tonight with this weather it wasn't easy", said Conte of his side's resolve in freezing conditions.

Willian and Andreas Christensen were replaced in extra-time due to fatigue after their midweek exertions and Pedro made the most of his opportunity, converting N'Golo Kante's cross. "We are unlucky today".

He added: "Every game is very hard, it will be very hard against Southampton". Southampton have just changed coach but now it is important to be happy and to go for another game at Wembley. "This goal will be very important for the future". We want to give satisfaction to our fans. I must be pleased with the commitment of the players.

Leicester City boss Claude Puel refused to criticise goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel despite his late blunder which enabled Chelsea to secure a 2-1 win at the King Power Stadium. "We will try to reach the final".
