N.Korea agrees to hold high-level talks: Seoul

The meeting, which will be held Thursday in the border village of Panmunjom, is the first concrete step toward talks between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in since the two sides agreed to the plan earlier this month. A government worker in South Korea worked an average 2,738 hours a year, according to data from the Ministry of Personnel and Management quoted in Yonhap news agency in January, almost 1,000 hours more than the OECD average for public servants.

In the meantime, the same publication revealed that the North Korean leader, Kim Jong-un offered to abandon his country's nuclear weapons in exchange for security guarantees from the United States.

North Korea said it will be represented by a three-member delegation led by Ri Son Kwon, chairman of the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland Committee.

"While serving as undersecretary of state, Bolton gained a great deal of knowledge about Korean Peninsula issues, and most of all, he is an adviser trusted by President Trump", the official was quoted as saying by the Yonhap News Agency.

Among the six North Korean delegates was senior diplomat Choe Kang Il, who handles North American affairs for his government, while the US delegation is believed to have included Kathleen Stephens, the former USA ambassador to South Korea.

The United States and South Korea announced on Tuesday that their annual joint military drills would go ahead next month, but the main exercise will be shortened by a month as a diplomatic thaw with the North gathers pace. As reports suggest, global sanctions, in turn, have resulted in North Korea facing a possible crisis of foreign cash. The Jeju Island station has the ability to broadcast into South Korea's northern neighbor, North Korea.

Tak added that following talks with Hyon Song-wol, who heads North Korea's Samjiyon Orchestra, the number of South Korean performers taking part in the Pyongyang concerts is expected to rise from the previous 160. However, if we closely examine the Trump's approach towards North Korea and put the things together, it can be observed that Trump's decision to talk with Kim is not an isolated and spontaneous act. South Korea has said that denuclearization will be on the agenda, but there has been no word from the Kim regime that it is willing to discuss giving up its prized nuclear program.
