Ben Affleck takes down his body shamers

Ben Affleck's "garish tattoos" have become the focus of a new satire piece in The New Yorker, and the Justice League actor broke his silence about his inked-up back with a brief tweet on Thursday. Previously, after it was discovered in 2016, he claimed that it was a temporary tattoo for a movie.

'I'm doing fine. Thick skin bolstered by a garish tattoo, ' he tweeted at the weekly.

The tattoo is supposed to be a phoenix, but one Pokemon fan pointed out that it bares a strong resemblence to Archeops, a Fossil Pokemon that resembles a mix between an Archaeopteryx (an ancient bird-like dinosaur) and a Mesoamerican feathered serpent.

"The Story of Ben Affleck's Crazy Back Tattoo Just Got Crazier", GQ explained.

Fry also compared Affleck to a "shy teen at the local pool" who carefully covers his imperfections with a towel.

"Am I the ashes in this scenario?" she mused. "I refuse to be the ashes", Garner said back then.

In 2016, his exes Jennifer Garner and J. Lo each shaded the tattoo publicly. Besides his looks, the author also lambasted the actor for his "suddenly flailing" career and wrote that his appearance suggests "the coming fall of man". She writes that it relates to all of us in a way: "There is something about this exhausted father that reflexively induces panic". Social media users haven't been the only ones who've had fun at Affleck's expense, though, as his ex Jennifer Lopez opened up about his tattoos in an interview with Andy Cohen a few years ago. When BBC1 asked him what the film had taught him about being an actor and director, he quipped, "It taught me not to do interviews with Henry Cavill where I don't say anything and they can lay Simon & Garfunkel tracks over it; that's one thing I learned". "We've been living in a world run by Afflecks for so long, will we even know ourselves when they're gone?"
