Two dead after Knox County house fire

KTRA Executive Director Ashley Sudds says firefighters worked quickly to put out the blaze that destroyed an old hay shed and caused some minor damage to the association's main office.

Vasquez said the homeowner reported problems with the heater throughout the day. At one point, crews ran into a stairway blocked by a mattress.

The Robertson County Emergency Management Agency, Robertson County EMS and the Greenbrier Police Department were also on scene to assist the residents and firefighters.

"I'm not sure if we would rebuild it", she said.

The family, which include two parents and seven children, will not stay in the house Wednesday night. Because the basket would use so much water, the lines went quiet and, for a moment, the fire flared up through the roof and the smoke turned black. By then, all the occupants were out of the house.

Four people have been displaced after a house fire in the 600 block of Luther Street Friday afternoon. "We've since called in some backup, and some other mutual aid departments to come in and help with some of the areas where it has crossed over the fire line".

The Office of the State Fire Marshall is investigating both fires.

The fire service spokeswoman said: "Instances of re-ignition are infrequent within Herts Fire and Rescue Service".
