José Mourinho says Manchester United may struggle to close gap on City

Although, finishing in the top-four would mark a good season for the Lilywhite's, winning a trophy is still what the fans want.

And Jose Mourinho has now revealed United have stayed down south in the wake of that victory at the Vitality Stadium, using Fulham's training ground and stadium for their preparations.

"They were really, really strong".

Antonio Conte's side face Southampton in the second semi-final on Sunday, with Manchester United or Tottenham awaiting the victor.

"I think that's something the manager brings and we as the players feel that from the coaches and from him himself".

Antonio Conte: "We must always have great motivation to finish the season as strongly as possible".

But I think the progress they have made under Pochettino is already obvious, and it is remarkable in that it has happened much quicker than anyone ever thought it would.

The cup will keep them going of course, and obviously I am not saying they don't want to win it.

"A few weeks ago we knew we had big games against Liverpool, Chelsea, City and not only were they markers to kick us on this year, they were also markers to show that next season we are going to be competing on all fronts and hopefully be in three or four competitions come the end of the season", Smalling said. However, it is still up to Pochettino and his men to prove him wrong, and beating Manchester United is the only way to do so.

Yes you could look at it differently and some people might think it will knock Tottenham's confidence, but I don't agree with that because of the quality they have got in their squad.

"I don't believe (it's an advantage) because Manchester United have the experience to play in Wembley too".

Who will start for Manchester United when they take on Tottenham?

I hope it is a classic and there are loads of chances at either end, but I just can not see it being an open affair at all because they are both so good defensively.

"And then, of course, it's not because you're going to provide players to play Champions League or Europa League, you are going to attract them or not". You have to beat teams like West Brom who are struggling for their lives.
