'Solo' Screenwriters Confirms Lando Calrissian Is Pansexual

Consequently, the big brass at Disney/Lucasfilm appears to acknowledge those shifting winds.

Lucasfilm could release more Solo films - including a spin-off focusing on Donald Glover's character, Lando Calrissian. There, Kennedy teased (with a fair amount of certainty) the identity of the next character to receive the spinoff treatment.

Well look, it's hardly as definitive as the original GUYS LANDO'S MOVE WILL DEFINITELY BE NEXT angle that Premiere France gleefully went to press with, but we'll take it.

A series of new clips have arrived for Solo: A Star Wars Story, starring Alden Ehrenreich as our infamous hero Han Solo. A solo Lando movie will give Glover a chance to explore the aspects of the charismatic character that may have informed his performance but have yet to be fully explored on screen. "I love the fluidity ― sort of the spectrum of sexuality that Donald appeals to and that droids are a part of..." Played by Donald Glover, the character brings the right amount of swagger and charm to Han Solo's origin story, and it sounds like that might be enough for him to get a Star Wars Story of his own. I've literally not seen the movie yet so I don't know about the amount of Lando within, but I assume there's a lot yet never enough, if you know what I mean. You can read CinemaBlend's review of the movie now, and if you're interested in what else is hitting the silver screen later this year, check out our 2018 premiere guide.

'Lando' Movie in the Works, Says Lucasfilm Chief Kathleen Kennedy
Lando movie rumor not true (from a certain point of view)

However, despite the screenwriter's best intentions, all of Lando's pansexuality is played out in subtext in Solo.

To no one's surprise, Lando Calrissian has been confirmed as pansexual. "To his credit, and I appreciate it, he was like, "I don't like your odds", which was awesome because I was like, "I'm gonna get this". Asked specifically whether Lando is pansexual, Kasdan replied, "I would say yes".

As for the LGBT element of Solo, Lawrence Kasdan reveals that he wished that they could have injected more of that into the Star Wars spin-off.
