E3 2018: Halo Infinite revealed, but what is it?

The variety of environments (many wide, open landscapes and expansive vistas) suggests something more open-world in design than the standard Halo games. And that engine will power the game for both Xbox One and Windows 10, a major step for the typically Xbox-focused franchise. The only creatures we saw throughout the trailer were dinosaur-like creatures who, we assume, naturally inhabited the planet before Master Chief's arrival.

Halo Infinite is the next chapter of the legendary franchise that is developed by 343 Industries and created with its new Slipspace Engine. Where does this take place in the Halo canon? Titled Halo Infinite, its new in-engine reveal trailer is seen above. It was the premiere trailer, offering a cinematic look at an Earth-like planet and a certain ring we've all come to know and love. For now. No doubt we'll get more information soon throughout the week.

Developer 343 Industries released the last entry in the series, Halo 5: Guardians, in 2015.
