Having the lols! Meghan and the Queen are officially besties

The Duchess of Sussex and the Queen went to northern England to open new a bridge.

Though it's Meghan's first engagement without Prince Harry, she does have the queen by her side, giving her the royal seal of approval and showing once more that the new duchess is being welcomed to the family.

The 36-year-old former American actress and star of the TV drama "Suits" wore a slim-fitting Givenchy cream dress, caped at the shoulders and belted at the waist.

It's not the first time Meghan has replicated a Diana look - at her first Trooping the Colour ceremony on Saturday, she wore a dress which beared an uncanny resemblance to a dress Princess Diana wore in 1987.

The pair are in Cheshire for their very first joint official engagement together.

Overall, Meghan seemed to charm the crowds and, most important, her husband's grandmother.

But-get this-Queen Eliz has also asked Meghan to do something she's apparently never ever asked Kate, Harry and Wills to do: Step aboard for a ride on the royal train.

The duchess and the Queen were met by David Briggs MBE, the Lord-Lieutenant of Cheshire after stepping off the train at Runcorn Station.

But fortunately it later appeared Meghan did the right thing by going in first, with the confusion being cleared up by Etiquette coach William Hanson.

Her Majesty and newly-married Meghan are officially opening the Mersey Gateway Bridge and Chester's Storyhouse Theatre. According to the official royal website, "over 1400 parading soldiers, 200 horses and 400 musicians come together each June in a great display of military precision, horsemanship and fanfare to mark The Queen's official birthday".

But another body language expert told the Daily Mail that Markle, who has years of professional training and experience in stage and on-camera performance, also appeared to be nervous during the outing.
