Hazard heaps praise on Giroud

But having started so well this season, Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has great faith in Hazard to reach new heights, even backing him to win the Premier League Golden Boot - an award very rarely won by players who aren't considered traditional strikers. "If you saw the game today, you have to say [he believed me]".

Despite scoring the decisive goals and putting in a man-of-the-match performance, Hazard refused to take all the praise, instead lauding the target-man exploits of Giroud.

Next up for Chelsea is their first Europa League game against PAOK in Greece on Thursday.

"I think both, because we have to play 60 matches".

"I hope he can recover in the next two or three days and maybe there is an opportunity that I can give him a chance".

Chelsea's flawless winning start to the season is papering over the lack of firepower from their big money signing Alvaro Morata, and with Olivier Giroud hardly prolific, the big priority in the new year is likely to get another goalscorer through the door - a move for Mitrovic would be surprising but he indeed appears to be on the radar.

Sarri would have been forgiven for making a slow start to his Chelsea career, given the lack of time he had to implement his style of play to the squad, but they players have taken to it well.

"In the moment we are very unsafe in the offensive phase but we are not solid as I want in the defensive phase", he added.

The west London club are two points clear of defending champions Manchester City but Sarri said both City and second-placed Liverpool are "better" than his side.

"My target is to become the best team in England in one year, 18 months". "We need to improve very quickly, but I think we can do it".

"We can cover our problems with quality in the offensive phase, but not in the defensive phase".

"I didn't play at the beginning of the season because I came back late from the World Cup".
