Aaron Rodgers Makes Disconcerting Comment About Knee Injury

Green Bay and Washington last met in November 2016 when Cousins passed for 375 yards and three touchdowns in a 42-24 Redskins win at FedEx.

This week, that same thinking applies to the Packers as they go visit the Washington football team.

If the Pack can contain Peterson, they can set the Redskins up for a lot of obvious passing situations and concentrate on pressuring Alex Smith.

The hope, of course, is that Aaron Rodgers' injured left knee improves as the season goes along. Schematically, reps, play time and all that, that's for Sunday.

Smith has a reputation as a game manager. Two plays later, Peterson dove forward for his second touchdown, giving Washington a 28-10 lead that the Redskins carried into halftime. He set career high with 480 yards passing vs. Redskins in 2013.

"I've watched the game and loved the game for a long time, and some of the rules I think help", Rodgers said, "but some of the rules maybe are going the wrong direction".

The NFL wants to keep quarterbacks safe, but there needs to be more consistency than what we're seeing from the referees in the early going.

The Packers DBs are a little banged up heading into Week 3.

He was cleared on Wednesday to return to practice as a full participant. His runs opened the offense for Smith to make longer throws downfield.

Aaron Rodgers is 50-72 for 567 yards, but also has done most of that virtually on one leg and against the Bears and Vikings, who are widely regarded as top-5 defenses. DT Kenny Clark has three sacks in past four games.

Defensive coordinator Greg Manusky likes to blitz often, so the Packers will again attempt to quick, rhythm passes and screens to counter this strategy.

That said, Washington can compete in this game, but improvement is a necessity after Week 2. While Kansas City is seventh overall versus the run, its inability to stop pass-catching backs is why it's 30th in fantasy points allowed per game to opposing runners.

The Redskins bolstered their receiving corps midweek with the additions of veterans Michael Floyd and Breshad Perriman, though head coach Jay Gruden said he was hopeful he wouldn't have to use them against Green Bay.

"I don't think you can say because I did some of those things in the game [against Minnesota] that automatically I'll be able to do that and more on Sunday". If they can move the ball consistently on the ground, it will take come of the pressure off Rodgers to do everything for his club.

Both teams have struggled in the red zone so far this season.

Quarterback Alex Smith wasn't too much better. The Packers should win this one by at least a touchdown.

SIT: Aaron Rodgers, QB, Packers: Seriously.
