Brett Kavanaugh faces second allegation of sexual misconduct

The retiring senator, who participated in the confirmations of every member of the high court during his 42 years in office, called the new allegation that has surfaced against Kavanaugh a continuation of "a smear campaign".

The magazine reported that Ramirez was reluctant at first to speak publicly "partly because her memories contained gaps because she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident".

That's according to a person briefed on the matter who isn't authorized to discuss it by name.

"This alleged event from 35 years ago did not happen".

Dr. Christine Blasey Ford, the woman who accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexually assaulting her 36 years ago at a high school party, has agreed to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee next week, according to a letter sent by her lawyers to committee staff.

The New York Times and Washington Post have stories. "I am issuing this statement today to make it clear to all involved that I have no knowledge of the party in question; nor do I have any knowledge of the allegations of improper conduct she has leveled against Brett Kavanaugh".

A second classmate said that after the party, he overheard a female student speaking about an incident at a party involving a fake penis and a male student exposing himself, though the classmate was not certain about the identity of the female student.

Michael Avenetti, a U.S. lawyer known for representing adult film actress Stormy Daniels in her cases against President Trump, has alleged on Twitter that he is representing a third woman with "credible information" regarding Judge Kavanaugh and the alleged witness to Prof Ford's assault, Mark Judge. "Editors from the New Yorker contacted some of us because we are the people who would know the truth, and we told them that we never saw or heard about this".

Republican Jason Miller, a former Trump spokesman and freshly disappeared CNN contributor, is now denying allegations in a court filing that he slipped an abortion pill into a mistress's drink. In a freaky turn, one of those allies, the conservative legal analyst Edward Whelan, posted pictures on Twitter Thursday night of a high school classmate of Kavanaugh's - with the man's name - and suggested he was responsible for the assault.

"We can say with confidence that if the incident Debbie alleges ever occurred, we would have seen or heard about it - and we did not".

CNN has not independently confirmed The New Yorker's reporting. She posted a sign saying she has no comment on her front door. Brett Kavanaugh and I were friends in high school but I do not recall the party described in Dr. Ford's letter.

White House spokeswoman Kerri Kupec blamed Democrats for the latest allegation.

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee said they found out about the Ramirez allegations from The New Yorker article and blamed Democrats for withholding the information. Blasey's lawyer, Debra Katz, responded with a blistering email, accusing Grassley's aides of pressuring her client "to agree to conditions you find advantageous to the nominee", and of imposing "aggressive and artificial deadlines" whose "sole goal is to bully Dr Ford and deprive her of the ability to make a considered decision that has life-altering implications for her and her family".
