Person arrested over USA mail-bombings

Federal authorities took a man into custody Friday in connection with the 12 possible package bombs mailed to high-profile Democrats.

Two were found in Florida and New York City on Friday.

Sayoc Jr. reportedly sent those potentially unsafe mailings to former President Obama, former Vice President Joe Biden, Hillary Clinton, former Central Intelligence Agency director John Brennan, liberal billionaire George Soros, former Attorney General Eric Holder, DNI director James Clapper and Sen.

Prior to the arrest, Attorney General Jeff Sessions said on Friday that the Justice Department was dedicating every available resource to the investigation and "I can tell you this: We will find the person or persons responsible".

"I thank God no one's been hurt, and I thank the courageous and resourceful security and law enforcement people for protecting us", he said.

There were also reports that a possible second package addressed to Clapper was discovered at a United States mail facility in NY.

According to state voter registration records, Sayoc is a registered Republican who voted in the 2016 election.

A man who operates a property management office near the Florida auto parts store where the mail bomb suspect parked his van said the suspect didn't resist when armed police officers swarmed and arrested him.

The van impounded at the site of Sayoc's arrest in Plantation was littered with pro-Trump stickers and pictures of prominent Democrats such as Elizabeth Warren with cross-hairs over their faces. Authorities have not said whether the van is connected with Sayoc. Records say he threatened to "throw, place, project or discharge" a destructive device.

In 2004, the 56-year-old was arrested on multiple charges including fraud and drug possession. They ordered Sayoc to the ground, Fiori said, and he did not resist.

Daniel Aaronson, an attorney who has represented Sayoc over the years, said none of his clients were "as polite and as courteous and as respectful to me" as Sayoc was.

Around 3 a.m., Mr. Trump lashed out at CNN accusing the cable network of blaming him for the bombs, tweeting "yet when I criticize them they go wild and scream, 'it's just not Presidential!'"

Most of those targeted this week were past or present USA officials, but packages also were sent to actor Robert De Niro and billionaire George Soros.

At Bojangles' Coliseum, Trump said the media "has a major role, whether they want to or not", in terms of national tone and dialogues.

Clinton was among the frequent Trump targets sent pipe bombs this week.

"There may be other packages in transit now and other packages on the way", Wray said.

"It would be worse than September 11th", Sayoc said, according to the police report, which also said Sayoc threatened the company's representative with physical harm if his electricity was turned off.

Plantation is within U.S. Rep.

Each envelope listed Debbie Wasserman Schultz, former chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee, as the sender, and misspelt Florida as "Florids" according to the criminal complaint.

The first pipe bomb that was received came Monday in Northern Westchester at the Katonah home of billionaire business magnate and political activist George Soros.
