The England worldwide starred in the Citizens' 6-1 shellacking of Southampton on Sunday afternoon, scoring two goals and making two assists. We needed to capitalise on Liverpool dropping points and I thought we were brilliant at times. But for a more realistic image of the gap between the leaders and their chasers, one needs only to shift their gaze to the goal difference column.
And at half time of Manchester United's game with Juventus, which was goalless, Gary Lineker had to make viewers aware of the incident in the other match. The first season, he was scared. But in reality, there appears one frontrunner for the title ... and they're wearing sky blue.
"In the Premier League now the big contenders miss few points, so that is why you have to be ready to get those points".
They could only reach the quarter-finals last campaign, where they were beaten over two-legs by Liverpool.
Southampton's only consolation came from ending their goal drought, with Danny Ings' penalty being their first strike in six games.
"We said it before, everything was pointing to a comfortable City win and you can't really hang Southampton out too much".
City doubled their advantage after another six minutes as Sterling carved his way into the area and squared for Aguero to stab home another landmark goal, one that also took him joint-eighth along with Michael Owen in the Premier League's all-time top scorers' list. "You're needing so many players to have an off day and it just don't happen". He was able to immediately change the match.
Raheem Sterling added another two goals to his tally. We were ruthless and took our chances. "But still he is so young to consider among the world's best players", said the Catalan. What on earth do you do? "When you defend solid you attack better".
"They've been facing that for the last three years haven't they?"
"Leroy is always a man who looks up for me", said Sterling.
There are a number of teams who would likely agree.
Guardiola and his incredible side will no doubt be hoping to go all the way in the competition this season.
