Dez Bryant ready to sign with New Orleans Saints

"It seems like a real good opportunity for him and I know it'll help their team".

Quarterback Drew Brees echoed his defensive teammate. He's now playing with one of the league's best quarterbacks and for one its brightest minds. I look forward to building a rapport with him.

After the three-time Pro Bowler's production dipped last season - 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns - Bryant was released by the Cowboys with two years remaining on a five-year, $70m contract.

The Saints, however, kept a close eye on the 6-foot-2, 230-pound Bryant after his release.

"I mean that is a scary offense but we are talking about the Cowboys", Elliott said with a laugh.

That's a guy who's definitely sticking to his talking points.

Timing was everything for the Saints and Bryant, leading to the two sides making it happen.

This is a great move for the ninth-year receiver as Bryant will not be expected to be the top target in New Orleans due to the presence of third-year wideout Michael Thomas.

That Bryant's production fell off in 2017 was more of an indictment of the Cowboys coaching staff than it was an indictment of his ability to still produce in this league.

Alvin Kamara and Mark Ingram have the Saints' running game locked down. Is it Mike T? "So we just move forward", Watson said.

Meredith is the second Saints wide receiver to go on injured reserve in the past month. You're getting a very passionate football player.

We'll see if Bryant is in game shape and how quickly he can pick up the Saints playbook. The Saints aren't getting the alpha dog receiver we saw in Dallas for seven seasons, but Sean Payton knows that and will craft a role that will allow Bryant to thrive. Many have called Bryant "washed up" and "old", but his numbers last season with the Dallas Cowboys say otherwise. But his knee was obviously a big enough concern this past offseason for the Chicago Bears to let him get away as a restricted free agent. "It's one of those things that's a process". I look forward to building a rapport with him.

Added Cowboys coach Jason Garrett: "I'm happy he has an opportunity to go play and finish the right way, it will be a great environment for him to go out and make an impact".
