Europa: Iwobi Rues Missed Chances In Arsenal Draw Vs Sporting Lisbon

Sporting Lisbon captain, Nani, has wished Arsenal striker, Danny Welbeck a speedy recovery after the England global broke his ankle during both sides' 0-0 draw in the Europa League encounter played on Thursday night.

That was the last of the meaningful action as Arsenal failed to score for just the second time under Emery - but it will be Welbeck's injury that dominates the fall-out.

Starsport brings you everything you need to know about Welbeck's injury blow.

The 27-year-old has overcome serious issues in the past, missing large chunks of his career with knee problems.

"Danny remains in hospital and will continue to be assessed".

"His injury was hard also for the mentality of the players because they looked at the big injury".

Arsenal manager Unai Emery said: "He was working well and he was having a good match". But I think the players were concentrated on the match and we forgot this injury the next minute on the pitch.

But it is believed that Welbeck broke his leg - something which is likely to keep him sidelined for the remainder of the season - based on the reactions of the players around him. A good lad and a good friend.

Petr Cech: "Danny's looked like a serious injury which is not nice to see and our thoughts are with him and also Stephan [Lichtsteiner]". Welbeck was available for sale in the summer, Arsenal had not offered him a new contract and likely are not planning to do so. After the match, Emery confirmed that his back-up striker had suffered a "big" injury and that he had immediately been taken to hospital.
