She recounted that when she was 13 years old, her mother dreamt she would win the pageant wearing a red dress.
Becoming Miss Universe is not just about beauty, it's also about being compassionate, intelligent and an exceptionally good human being too, and this reflected in Miss Philippines' winning answer. A video posted to Twitter of Gray's parents hearing that she won the pageant shows her dad jumping out of his seat and her mom crying.
The walk has been dubbed "lava walk", inspired by the Mayon Volcano in her hometown of Albay. Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte immediately sent his congratulations to the newly crowned Gray. "Ms".
He added that Catriona "can be considered as the modern-day Daragang Magayon." because of her "beauty, intelligence and burning passion". And that's where we drew inspiration from.
As she started her campaign in the Miss Universe pageant Bangkok, Thailand, Catriona already wowed everyone with her unique, astounding, and awe-inspiring style-from the National Costume contest to the recent preliminaries. The final of the Miss Universe competition is watched by nearly every household in the country, and the national pride that comes from the competition is palpable from both the contestants and the audience.
Gray holds a Master Certificate in Music Theory. But as early as now, she's managed to unite Filipinos and will always be their queen - crown or no crown.
This year's event drew positive feedback for themes of inclusivity and an all-women panel of judges made up of business leaders and former Miss Universe titleholders.
"I was praying and looking out to the people because that's what I remind myself". But there's something about music that can just make you feel in a certain way or can strike a chord. "There were moments of doubt where I felt overwhelmed and I felt the pressure".
Aside from being an art lover, Gray is said to be a great travel buddy.
"With the eyes of the world and the entire Filipino nation on you, you chose to highlight your work with the poor, and to send a much-needed message of hope to all". Catriona is an HIV/AIDS advocate at Love Yourself PH, and volunteers as a Teacher's Assistant to the students of Young Focus NGO.
