Pochettino refuses to rule out interest in Man Utd job

Manchester United have been linked with a move for Mauricio Pochettino after sacking Jose Mourinho, but he is focused on Spurs.

There's no denying the Argentine boss has worked wonders at Southampton and Tottenham since he arrived in England over five years ago.

Perhaps aware he may have to deal with financial restrictions at Tottenham for several more years due to their expensive and delayed stadium move, Pochettino left the door open for United when he admitted he could not predict what might happen at the end of the season. "I don't think that will be a stumbling block to recruiting Pochettino". They are some of the Premier League's and world football's most well-known names now, but they weren't before Paul Mitchell brought them to the attention of the clubs where he has led recruitment departments.

"That is not my business and then I will not waste time or energy because my focus and energy is in Tottenham, is in tomorrow and to prepare the best way (for) the games, and, of course, to respect the club that employs you".

"We didn't concede a lot for them, but they have quality and they scored".

"You look at Mauricio Pochettino's belief in young players, you look at his performance levels and style of play, you look at the way he carries himself at all times publicly and in private - for me he feels like the most ideal candidate".

The manager is being courted by Manchester United, who want to appoint him as the permanent successor to José Mourinho at the end of the season, while he is also of interest to Real Madrid. I only want to send my best wishes to Jose.

Pochettino's attacking football and reputation for developing youth players into the first team fit perfectly with United's traditions, something Mourinho certainly failed with.

The stadium is already finished and close to the opening, Tottenham are still in the fight for titles despite no reinforcement and the big players seem to be happy with important contracts.

"I think the director of football thing is a slight red herring in this", he said.

Neville went on to suggest Mourinho remains one of the game's great modern managers, despite being sacked by Chelsea and United in a little over three years. We've seen it play out in public. You know - Manchester United.
