Solskjaer, who will be at the Old Trafford helm for the remainder of the season, told MUTV in his first interview: "It's great".
Norwegian club Molde have allowed Solskjaer to make the temporary switch to Old Trafford, with United expected to appoint a more experienced manager in the summer.
"Normally we train at 3 p.m. or 4 p.m. but we have to train at 5 p.m., [so the players can] stay later for one hour with the people at home, but we have to train before an official game. It is a big challenge ahead, but in the short term I expect the players to react and win the next few matches they should be winning".
"I don't blame Woodward entirely for missing out here - but what a statement that would've been - putting in a three-time CL victor, whilst as the same time re-structuring the club - like Liverpool - top to bottom".
Their game on Saturday at Cardiff City, where Solskjaer was briefly manager in 2014, begins a run of five in 15 days.
"It got to the point where very promising players were ruling out Manchester United as they were saying: "I don't want to be the next Anthony Martial or Paul Pogba, being marginalised, not playing, and having my progress impeded".
Roy Keane has been typically scathing in his assessment of the players' performances in the months leading up to Mourinho's sacking.
"I only have gratitude for him".
'Shame on some of those players.
Repeating the mantra of his manager Jurgen Klopp, Shaqiri stressed that Liverpool were taking things one game at a time and he was not getting carried away - despite the acclaim of everyone around the club.
Solskjaer wrote himself into United history in May 1999 when his injury-time goal against Bayern Munich - after coming on as a late substitute - completed a remarkable Champions League final comeback, the pinnacle of his 11-year stay. I am one of them.
As well as this, not numerous other sides above United in the table, so if a coach was to find some form and go on a run, who knows if they could lift the club into that elusive fourth place spot. I like to speak to people, I like to engage with people.
"I will have an input but the job is to get to know the players, observe them I've seen more or less every game from Norway but to get to know the players, what do I think I can improve them on. I can't wait to work with him".
We can't hide the fact that Manchester United have been inconsistent at the Premier League level.
