Patriots taking on Chiefs in AFC Championship Game

Here's Phil Simms, Boomer Esiason, Steve Smith and Lewis making their picks for Patriots-Chiefs on Showtime's "Inside The NFL" - with Lewis as the lone dissenter picking Kansas City to win.

The victor of Sunday's game will advance to play the NFC champions (either the Los Angeles Rams or New Orleans Saints) in Super Bowl LIII at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta on February 3. If, however, Belichick is successful in limiting the Chiefs' best weapon, this game could be one that the Patriots find themselves victorious in. With Brady dropping dimes left and right, the Patriots finished the first half with as many touchdowns (five) as the Chargers (five) had first downs. The Chiefs allowed 5.0 yards per carry against opposing offenses this year, second-worst in the league. While Patrick Mahomes seems to look like a veteran out there has only been calling plays for two seasons but is a crowd favorite at Arrowhead.

The Patriots will need to take a similar game plan into today as they had a week ago: Get the running backs involved early in the passing game and then pound the ball with Sony Michel.

If the Patriots win, Gina will be sending us some Kansas City barbecue, but if the Chiefs win, we will send them Vermont maple syrup.

Even though the past Super Bowl participants haven't played a single road game in the last 10 years or so, you can never ever count out the Patriots this deep into the playoffs. That game was in Foxborough, and Kansas City has played much better at Arrowhead Stadium this season.
