Cohen's matter-of-fact testimony about secret payments and lies unfolded as Trump met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
Speaking at a news conference in Vietnam on Thursday after his summit with North Korea's Kim Jong-un ended without agreement, the U.S. president said it was "sort of incredible" that such a hearing would be held back in Washington while he was on an important overseas trip. He said the attorney, Jay Sekulow, previewed Cohen's testimony before his appearance on the Hill in 2017 regarding plans to build a Trump building in Moscow.
Democratic House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff said in a tweet on Wednesday that he planned to dig into the Trump Moscow project, the revelations about Wikileaks and any White House role in Cohen's prior false statements.
Trump insisted Mr Cohen's testimony on Wednesday had provided no evidence the Trump campaign had colluded with Russian Federation in the 2016 USA election and that this is what mattered most in the keenly awaited session before a House committee.
He also said Trump quizzed him on a proposed Trump Moscow tower project worth hundreds of millions of dollars, even as Trump denied any business in Russian Federation.
"I don't think colleagues on the other side of the aisle are afraid that you're going to lie", Lynch told Cohen. "I blindly followed his demands", Cohen told the panel.
He said Wednesday's testimony by his former lawyer before a House of Representatives committee that Mr Trump was a racist and conman was "incorrect".
Cohen gave lawmakers his first-person account of how he arranged to buy the silence of a porn actress and a Playboy model who said they had sex with Trump.
Cohen later pleaded guilty to lying to Congress during that testimony. At a Vietnam hotel and unable to ignore the drama thousands of miles away, Trump lashed out on Twitter, saying Cohen "did bad things unrelated to Trump" and "is lying in order to reduce his prison time".
"T$3 here is no amount of money in the world that would make me work for a man who I thought-or even suspected-harbored bigoted ideologies", she said in her post, praising Trump for raising "five of the most unbiased and open-minded children I've ever known".
"I think having a fake hearing like that and having it in the middle of this very important summit is really a awful thing", he said. Stone was indicted in January for obstruction, false statements and witness tampering, and he denies Cohen's allegations.
But Cohen said the president was careful not to directly tell him to do so. He said Trump was "not knowledgeable" about the transactions even though the president directly arranged for his reimbursement.
Cohen is due to begin a three-year prison sentence in May, and described himself as cooperative with multiple investigations in hopes of reducing his time behind bars. Cohen testified that Manhattan federal prosecutors, for example, are probing other alleged crimes, with his help.
Mr Trump, Cohen told the hearing, replied: "OK good, let me know". "What I do think was going on today is that this was the first step in the Democrats' insane impeachment plans", Jordan said during an appearance on Fox News's "Special Report". It was one of several moments during the hearing where Cohen's old bravado as Trump's fixer was seemingly gone.
Other Republicans went off on Cohen, including Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C., a top Trump ally who pointed his glasses at Cohen and at times shouted. Cohen said he could not discuss that conversation, the last contact he said he has had with the president or anyone acting on his behalf, because it remains under investigation.
Patton, who serves as an official at the Department of Housing and Urban Development, did not speak at the hearing but had a statement entered on record.
