"Over the next few weeks, we'll start slowly bringing this feature to more Android and iOS devices, and will continue to incorporate feedback as we continue testing".
It remains to be seen when support will go live in the remainder of the non-supported states as it's possible local regulations may prohibit the use of a feature like this for various reasons.
For those unaware, Duplex is a conversational AI designed for making Google Assistant more capable at handling real-world tasks. But Google made some progress since then, addressing concerns in the process.
From there, the virtual assistant will call the restaurant and try to make a reservation for you at your specified time.
Although the big selling point with this feature is the ability for the user to book a table without having to call the restaurant themselves ahead of time, that's not the only reason Duplex technology is used to call businesses. Now, when you want to turn up the temperature, fire up a super hot playlist, and ask how badly the Blazers choked to the Thunder last night, you can do so with only a single "Hey, Google".
Once a reservation/appointment is successfully booked, you'll receive a confirmation notification (via phone and email) along with a calendar invite.
Although limited to Google's own Pixel smartphones for now, the company says it has plans to bring Duplex to many more people across the U.S. soon.
In a major development, Google Duplex, the AI that can make reservations with a realistic human-like voice, is reaching more people in the US.
