NFL Draft: Giants slate of picks following Odell Beckham trade

The New York Giants traded Odell Beckham Cleveland on Tuesday night, giving Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield one of the best wide receivers in the league as his newest target.

Ten things you need to know about third-year safety Jabrill Peppers, who was acquired by the Giants in a trade with the Browns pending physical exams. He had 77 receptions for 1,052 yards and six touchdowns last season. He'll also give Mayfield an elite weapon, and his arrival could vault the Browns, who went 7-8-1 last season after not winning a game in 2017, into legitimate championship contenders. That could be true, but many seem to be forgetting that Peppers was a first-round pick just two years ago and is on his way to being a bona fide star.

This isn't to say the Browns are going to be disappointed in the deal at all.

If Beckham were to have a new contract, there is a chance he won't get a much better deal than what he has at the moment.

The difference between the Browns depth chart at receiver and the Giants depth chart is startling. Football fans in MI noticed, too, but not only because of Beckham going to Cleveland. I was not expecting (Beckham to come, too).

Vernon started 39 games over three seasons in NY. SportsLine did not project the Giants as a good football team before the Beckham trade and they are obviously a worse team, for this season, after it.

By unloading Beckham, the Giants have committed to Saquon Barkley as the face of the franchise. But they're committed to Eli Manning, with Gettleman most recently saying "the Chiefs model worked really well" in regard to drafting Patrick Mahomes and having him sit as a rookie behind Alex Smith.
