Starbucks tweets witty response to viral Game of Thrones cameo

Missandei had been a trusted advisor and close friend to Daenerys Targaryen since she freed her from slavery in Season 3. Before Cersei ordered to kill her, Missandei had a parting word for Daenerys: "Dracarys".

The cup, which was first spotted by a Reddit user, appears during a scene from Season 8, Episode 4, while Jon Snow and Tormund Giantsbane celebrate the victory over the Night King. "He's the only one who disappeared, the only one who drove herds and took them all like roasted sheep". It also prompted a number of critiques on how the biggest show on television could make such a mistake. An Instagram photo shows both of them dressed in costume for their characters Lyanna Mormont and Sansa Stark, with Turner holding a Starbucks coffee cup on the set of the TV series.

But Hauke Richter, an art director on "Game of Thrones", told Variety that the reaction to the accidental cup was "so blown out of proportion [because] it has not happened with "Thrones" so far".

Last week we reported that what was supposed to be perhaps the most important Game of Thrones episode, ever, had become the second-lowest rated Game of Thrones episode, of all time.

"TBH we're surprised she didn't order a Dragon Drink", the company said on Twitter, referring to its summer menu addition of a bright pink fruit and coconut milk beverage that contains the tropical dragon fruit, also known as pitaya.

Game of Thrones itself spoke out and added a banter-filled response to the gaffe, writing: "News from Winterfell".

Along with that humorous statement, Game of Thrones executive producer Bernie Caulfield apologized during an interview on WNYC and made some light-hearted comments about the whole situation. Let's pour one out for the coffee cup.

Game of Thrones' third-to-last episode, The Last of the Starks, aired on Sunday, May 5, bringing with it plot twists, hookups, and a couple of unexpected (and controversial) deaths.

Some "GOT" fans assumed the rogue cup that landed in Westeros was from Starbucks (leading the hashtag "Starkbucks" to trend on Twitter).
